Finding Your Sacred Space
You have plenty of options when selecting your sacred space, indoors or outdoors. Creating sacred space now can help you deal with negativity and intense holiday energy. When creating sacred space consider, finding a quiet space where you feel safe and can be alone with your thoughts.
Sacred Space in Nature
I have select areas around Charleston that I choose at different times, depending on my mood. I have a spot by the Angel Oak tree on Johns Island, SC or James Island Park when I need to listen to the wind in the leaves. Mostly, I will spend time on Folly Beach, SC either early morning or late evening.
I enjoy walking on the beach, watching the sunrise and feeling the cool breeze on my face. I will set my alarm to ensure that I am up and out the door, so I can experience quiet, feel at peace, and witness something beautiful, such as the sunrise or the ocean. The key to selecting your sacred space outdoors is to pick a place and time when minimal people will be distracting your peace of mind.
Sacred Space in Your Home
When creating your sacred space indoors, look for an area that is free from clutter, noise, and distractions. Women may use their closet or bathtub for their sacred space moments. Men often claim the garage, workshop or home office as a sacred space. Place lavender scented candles, incense or diffuse essential oils to create a relaxing environment.
If the space you live in is tight and you rarely can find a moment filled with peace. You may want to create sacred space in your vehicle. Some people will sit in their car in a park, overlooking water, or near a trailhead.
Schedule Time in Your Sacred Space
Make time each day to honor your spirit by spending at least 10 minutes in your sacred space. Being alone with your thoughts in a sacred space provides the perfect environment for you to let go of all the negativity weighing you down. Begin by breathing in deeply and releasing worry, stress, anxiety and doubt. Take deep breaths and release at least 9 times. With every inhale, breathe in peace, love, compassion and joy. With every exhale, set the intention that you are releasing all the negativity in your life. Then allow your mind to relax and focus on all that is working well in your life and give thanks for every little thing in your life.
Spending time in my sacred space empowers my mind, body, and spirit. I feel energized after 10 minutes and feel great.
